Synopsis

Light Yagami, an ordinary university student, comes across a notebook which happens to belong to a rogue Shinigami (death god). Upon writing in the book he discovers whoever he writes the name of will end up dying, which awakens a warped sense of justice inside him, and he starts to target criminals to punish them under the name of Kira. As criminals start dropping dead suspiciously, it especially catches the attention of a private detective known only by the initial of L. L has never shown his face to the world before, but he appears in front of ‘Kira’ in order to try and catch him, which leads to a deadly battle of wits as Kira tries to hide his identity and keep himself one step ahead of the police.
