Synopsis

This is the first live-action adaptation of the iconic sports anime and manga series, known as a classic in the genre. Ayuhara Kozue (Ueto Aya), a second-year student on the Fujimi Academy volleyball team, receives news that she’s been selected for the All-Japan High School team. However, tensions rise as Kozue is chosen over her best friend and team ace, Hayakawa Midori (Sakai Ayana), and she faces increasing pressure from her seniors. Despite this, Kozue eagerly joins the selection camp. Alongside a unique cast of players from across the country, including Yagisawa Kaori (Miyaji Mao), the eldest of the Yagisawa sisters known for their triple attack, and the rebellious Sanjo Michiru (Tono Nagiko), Kozue must endure the brutal, unreasonable training sessions led by the strict coach Inokuma Daigo (Funakoshi Eiichiro).

Following her role in *Aim for the Ace!*, Ueto Aya shines once again in a sports drama, delivering a strong performance as the heroine. The intense battles between Kozue and Inokuma take the drama to a whole new level. Funakoshi’s portrayal of the tough-as-nails coach is a must-see for how fully he embodies the role.
