Synopsis

Based on a true story from a high school brass band in Kanagawa Prefecture during the 1980s, this school drama follows Hikuma Koichi (Terao Akira) a former saxophonist who lost his purpose in life after an accident and turned away from music. The story chronicles the daily struggles between Hikuma, the troubled students, and the teachers and parents.

The drama depicts the “miracle” of delinquent students who turn their lives around and go on to win the National High School Wind Band Competition (modeled after the All-Japan Band Competition), known as the “Kōshien of Music” (note: the actual school that served as the model did not have a significant delinquent student population).
