Synopsis

Writer Tsutomu (Sawada Kenji) is living out his days in a remote cottage in Nagano, gathering fruits and mushrooms of the mountain, cooking vegetables grown in the field, and writing manuscripts as he observes the changing seasons. From time to time, his lover Makiko (Matsu Takako) pays a visit from Tokyo as the editor in charge of his work, and the two enjoy cooking and eating the land’s seasonal food together. Although Tsutomu doesn’t hold any of the world’s burdens on his shoulders, there is one thing he struggles with – giving the cremated remains of his dead wife a grave.
