Synopsis

Novice teacher Muramoto Aiko (Nikaido Fumi), age 24, becomes known as “Gappa-sensei” after nervously mispronouncing “isshoukenmei” (doing one’s best) with her Ishikawa dialect accent as “gappa” during her first classroom introduction.

In her first homeroom class of 5th grade Class 2, preparations begin for the school sports festival’s class competition rope jumping event. While the athletic students aim for victory, one male student named Katsuo repeatedly struggles with the jumps. Due to circumstances and suggestions from the vice principal and parents, Aiko and her classmates decide to assign the athletically-challenged Katsuo as the “cheerleading coordinator” instead of having him participate in the jumping.

However, as the sports festival approaches, Aiko begins questioning whether everyone should be jumping together after all. With only 24 hours remaining until the competition, what decision will Aiko and the students of 5th-grade Class 2 make?

This refreshing and heartwarming drama explores themes of inclusion, teamwork, and finding everyone’s place in the classroom community.
