About Sakana-kun

Affectionately called “Sakana-kun,” Miyazawa Masayuki is a celebrity ichthyologist from Japan, often seen wearing his notable boxfish hat. He has expressed an ardent passion for marine life since childhood and is so highly regarded in the field that he was granted an honorary doctorate from Kaiyodai where he additionally serves as a visiting professor. As a child, however, Sakana-kun has stated that Mizuki Shigeru was his favorite manga artist, and if he hadn’t picked up an interest in fish then he would have become “Yokai-kun” (妖怪クン) instead.
