Synopsis

In the eastern region of Hokkaido, surrounded by magnificent natural beauty in Nakashibetsu, a mysterious man named Kosaku (Abe Hiroshi) arrives on a stormy night at the dairy farm of Tamiko (Tokiwa Takako), a widow who produces high-quality milk from the small but excellent operation left behind by her late husband. Despite being viewed with suspicion by Aburuta, the president of a local construction company who harbors feelings for Tamiko, as well as by her father-in-law, Yoshio, and her late husband’s aunt Suzue, Kosaku skillfully helps out on Tamiko’s understaffed farm. He gradually wins the trust of Tamiko and becomes beloved by her young son, Takeshi, who has been living lonely days since losing his father. However, the happy days that begin to unfold come crashing down with a resounding collapse when the secret that Kosaku has been desperately hiding finally comes to light.
