Team Batista

“Team Batista” is a group of medical specialists who successfully performed 26 consecutive high-difficulty heart surgeries. However, they suddenly experience three consecutive surgical failures, with all patients dying. Psychosomatic medicine physician Taguchi (Takeuchi Yuko), who undertakes the internal investigation, is unable to determine the truth and attempts to conclude the incidents as accidents. However, Shiratori (Abe Hiroshi), a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare official who remains unsatisfied with the report, launches his reinvestigation into the mysterious surgical failures.

There is a specialist team for Batista surgery called Team Bastista which boasts a 100% success rate for a difficult surgery for heart disorders at the hospital affiliated to Tojo University’s medical school. However, three successive patients have died on the operating table midway through surgery. Could this be medical malpractice or murder? To probe the cause of the deaths, Taguchi Kohei, a doctor practising psychosomatic medicine at the hospital, and an eccentric Health Ministry official, Shiratori Keisuke, put together the strange turn of events and pursue the mystery of the successive suspicious deaths.

Taguchi, who works at Tojo University School of Medicine Hospital, receives an anonymous accusation document alleging bribery involving Hayami, the head of the emergency medical center known by the nickname “General Rouge (The Bloody General).” At the hospital director’s request, Taguchi begins investigating the truth behind these suspicions, but complications arise.

Kohei Taguchi, hospital therapist at Tojo University Hospital and eccentric Health Ministry official Keisuke Shiratori face off against genius emergency doctor Koichi Hayami and investigate a medical mystery.

A murder occurs in a MRI model in the new Autopsy Imaging Center of the Tojo University Hospital. Kohei Taguchi & Keisuke Shiratori investigates the death. Meanwhile, high level police officer Yoshimasa Ikaruga and the hospital’s forensic doctor Sumire Sasai oppose the new imaging center.

The story deals with a hospital in a village, which is run by Sakuranomiya family. The hospital does mainly end-of-life care. The residents there place their full confidence in the hospital.
One day, a radiologist at the hospital disappears with one CT. What did the radiologist try to discover and what is the secret the family tries to keep secret about the hospital?
