Falling in love… with a “mysterious transfer student” whose face and form I’ve never seen

 

The story’s protagonist is Kurashina Izumi, a second-year high school student who always ranks first in her grade academically but is the most reserved when it comes to romance in her class. Izumi attends Sakura Saikan High School, a college preparatory school with no dress code and a free-spirited atmosphere that respects individuality. Rumors spread that “an incredibly handsome guy is transferring” to Class 2-1 at Sakura Saikan High School, causing excitement among the female students.

 

However, the rumored transfer student is absent on his first day. Only the name “Sobue Hiroki” is written on the blackboard. And he doesn’t come to school the next day, or the day after that… Students begin fantasizing, “Maybe he’s a famous idol?” and baseless rumors continue to spread endlessly. All the girls in class become infatuated with their idealized version of Sobue, while the boys are annoyed that the girls are obsessed with him.

 

One day, Izumi is called by her homeroom teacher, Hasebe, and appointed to deliver homework to Sobue’s house, simply because she’s the class representative and lives nearby. When she arrives at his house, Sobue’s mother suddenly asks her to become her son’s friend. Having learned about Sobue’s LINE account without ever meeting him, Izumi begins secretly messaging him, keeping it hidden from her classmates. Sobue through LINE is elusive and mysterious. Finding these conversations interesting, Izumi gradually becomes more conscious of Sobue, whom only she knows. However, one of her close friend group discovers that she’s been visiting Sobue’s house.

 

Meanwhile, her classmate Nojima Keisuke, who secretly harbors feelings for Izumi, also becomes aware of the invisible rival “Sobue.” The students of Sakura Saikan High School find themselves caught up in the presence of the “mysterious transfer student” Sobue, whom no one has yet met. Against this backdrop, the story authentically depicts the problems, worries, and events that these second-year high school students face, including friendship, love, studies, club activities, and future paths.
