Synopsis

Kagiyama Tetsuro (played by Kikuchi Fuma) lives alone in an apartment in Tokyo. While constantly contemplating love, he remains single, spending his days making profound observations about seemingly mundane aspects of his daily life. His only companions are the inanimate objects in his room, which provide witty commentary on his musings.

Through Tetsuro’s unique perspective, ordinary occurrences become subjects of deep contemplation: the physics of a perpetually falling shower caddy suction cup, the mysterious origins of dust, deciphering complex emails from his beloved Uemura-san, analyzing the social dynamics of university laboratory drinking parties, and conducting comparative experiments between old and new frying pans. Within the confines of his small apartment, these trivial events transform into matters of great significance through his philosophical lens, while his room’s objects offer perfectly timed, level-headed retorts to his overthinking.

This peaceful existence faces a turning point when Tetsuro learns he must leave his beloved “my room” to pursue graduate studies. The story unfolds entirely within his apartment, with Tetsuro as the only human character visible on screen. The narrative progresses through his interactions with his room’s possessions, creating moments that are sometimes nerve-wracking, sometimes heart-pounding, and often quietly amusing.
