Synopsis

Oshima Nagi, a 28-year-old woman with distinctive straight, silky hair, works as an OL at an electronics manufacturer in Tokyo. To maintain her daily peace and avoid any disruptions, she constantly reads the room and agrees with others by always trying to stay in harmony with those around her. However, Nagi’s perpetually smiling, nervous demeanor and constant attention to others’ moods make her an easy target for her colleagues, who subject her to teasing, “well-meaning” criticism, and unreasonable work assignments daily.

One day, while living this somewhat unsatisfying life, she overhears a comment from her boyfriend, Gamon Shinji, badmouthing her, which in turn breaks her spirit. This prompts her to question, “Is this the right way for me to live my life…?” After reflecting on this, Nagi decides to reset her entire life. She quits her job, moves out of her apartment, cuts off contact with everyone, including her boyfriend, deletes her social media, and cancels her phone contract – all to reset her life and find happiness.

Nagi relocates to a small, rundown six-tatami room apartment in Tokyo’s suburbs. She also decides to stop spending an hour each morning straightening her naturally curly hair (which she had always been self-conscious about) with an iron to achieve that silky-straight look, choosing instead to live authentically. With no job, no connections, and no plans, this new life should be enjoyable with its complete freedom from obligations. However, Nagi still finds herself instinctively trying to read the room and accommodate others… As Shinji follows her to her new life, and she becomes surrounded by new people, including her neighbor Gon, Nagi’s life reset story begins to unfold.
