Synopsis

Based on a novel by Konouike Rui.

The story begins in 1999, when a woman long constrained by a strict, overbearing family is denied the chance to marry her lover and sets a chilling plan into motion. Her scheme is seduce and marry a man of distinguished credentials, kill him, then pass his identity and life on to her lover so the two can live together as a married couple. But her twisted desires prove impossible to contain, and the murders do not stop there.

Decades after the case shook society to its core, a provocative new stage production based on the incident goes into development – with Tada (Mizukami Koshi) landing the lead role. But Tada’s obsessive, single-minded intensity begins to exert an unsettling grip on those around him: his co-star Mera, playwright Kakiuchi and director Kato, who all find themselves increasingly under his influence.
