Synopsis

Two women from completely opposite walks of life enter into a forbidden “Fake Mommy” contract – posing as mother and child for the sake of a little girl’s future!? What begins as an unconventional outsourcing of motherhood quickly spirals into a web of lies, secrets, and escalating trouble. Fake Mommy is a high-stakes family “crime” entertainment drama packed with deception, unexpected bonds, and emotional twists.

Hanamura Kaoru (Haru), a University of Tokyo graduate and former elite corporate employee, suddenly quits her job due to personal reasons and struggles to find new work. During an interview at the startup RAINBOWLAB, she meets the company’s charismatic CEO, Hidaka Mamie (Kawaei Rina) – a high school dropout with a delinquent past, who built her company into a viral success through sharp communication skills. Privately, Mamie is a single mother raising her daughter Iroha, whose existence she keeps hidden.

Worn out from her exhausting job search, Kaoru receives an unexpected and lucrative offer from Mamie: to become Iroha’s private tutor as the young girl prepares for the entrance exam to the prestigious Yanagiwa Academy Elementary School. The school demands not only academic excellence but strong parental involvement, including a parent-child interview – something Mamie can’t manage alongside her demanding role as CEO. Impressed by Kaoru’s intelligence and academic background, Mamie makes a shocking proposal:
“On the day of the exam, I want you to pose as Iroha’s mother and attend the interview in my place.”

Knowing full well that being caught could lead to legal consequences – and uncertain about what would happen after the exam, Kaoru hesitates. But this risky “fake mom contract” soon leads both women into an uncharted emotional territory neither of them expected…
