The Summer 2025 drama season has barely begun, but the buzz is already real.
Fans on Drama-Otaku.com have been clicking, searching, and saving their most-anticipated titles — and we’re breaking down the ones making the biggest waves so far.

These aren’t critic reviews or editorial picks — this list is powered by real-time traffic and fan interest. Some shows have already premiered. Others are still a few weeks away. But all of them have one thing in common: they’re the most-viewed J-dramas on our site right now.

From sizzling romances to revenge thrillers, queer love stories, and unexpected comedies — here’s Part 1 of our J-Dramas of Summer 2025 Breakdown. These are the top 10 titles you’re most excited for (and honestly, same).

🥇 1. Watashi no Otto to Kekkonshite (私の夫と結婚して / Marry My Husband)

Adapted from a hit Korean webtoon, this time-slip revenge drama stars Koshiba Fuka as Kobe Misa, a woman betrayed by her husband and best friend — only to wake up 10 years earlier with a second chance at life… and revenge.
Enter Sato Takeru as Suzuki Wataru, the man who might just change the game.
Backed by CJ ENM and Studio Dragon, this is one of the biggest adaptations of the year.

🥈 2. Hishakai Shindo (被写界深度 / Depth of Field)

A bittersweet coming-of-age BL drama set between high school and college. Usa Takuma plays Hayakawa, a withdrawn music lover, and Hirano Koshu is Konno, a passionate photography student.
Their emotional connection builds over time — through jealousy, longing, and years apart — until a single event pulls them back together.

🥉 3. Ebi Datte Tai ga Tsuritai (海老だって鯛が釣りたい / Even the Shrimp Wants to Catch a Sea Bream)

Yuiko “Ebi-ko” Ebihara (played by Tanabe Momoko) sees herself as a low-tier shrimp in a sea of fancy sea breams. But after a breakup, she dares to dream of high-spec love.
This romantic comedy is an underdog’s quest for glow-up and real romance.

4. Hitori de Shinitai (ひとりでしにたい / I Would Rather Die Alone)

Ayase Haruka plays Yamaguchi Narumi, a career woman who questions her single lifestyle after her aunt dies alone.
From speed-dating to estate planning, this drama is a sharp, socially-aware comedy about living — and dying — on your own terms.

5. Kita-kun ga Kawaisugite Te ni Amaru node Sannin de Share-suru Koto ni Shimashita (北くんがかわいすぎて手に余るので、3人でシェアすることにしました。 / Kita-kun, Our Shared Love)

Three housemates fall for one adorably irresistible man — Manaka Kita (played by Iwase Yoji) — and instead of fighting, they agree to share his affection equally.
Co-starring Honda Tsubasa, Shida Mirai, and Mashiko Atsuki, this is a chaotic but surprisingly wholesome romantic comedy.

6. Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite (雨上がりの僕らについて / Stay By My Side After the Rain)

After six years apart, Kanade Shinichiro (played by Ikeda Masashi) meets Mashiro Kosuke (played by Hori Natsuki) again.
This BL drama explores unresolved feelings, hidden pain, and the slow process of healing and reconnecting. A quiet and emotionally resonant story.

7. Cinderella Closet

Haruka (Osaki Ichika) moves to Tokyo hoping for a glamorous college life but quickly feels out of place — until a stylish mystery man, Hikaru (Matsumoto Leo), offers a life-changing makeover.
A glow-up romance filled with fashion, self-worth, and slow-burning feelings.

8. Renai Ruby no Tadashii Furikata (恋愛ルビの正しいふりかた / The Proper Way to Write Love)

High school memories, a messy past, and one unexpected confession. Suzuki Hiroshi (Iwahashi Genki) is now a top stylist when Natsuki (Soma Satoru) reappears in his life.
Their awkward reunion leads to a heartfelt BL romance with salon drama and emotional baggage.

9. Ai no, Gakkou (愛の、がっこう。 / Learning to Love)

Ogawa Manami (Kimura Fumino) is a strict teacher giving secret lessons to Kaoru (Raul), a charming host club worker who can’t read or write.
What starts as tutoring grows into a deep, taboo-tinged relationship that challenges social norms.

10. Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-Senpai ni Koishiteru 2nd Stage (彩香ちゃんは弘子先輩に恋してる 2nd Stage / Ayaka is In Love x Love x Love with Hiroko)

Ayaka (Kato Shiho) and Hiroko (Mori Kanna) are now cohabiting and navigating new romantic hurdles — including a possibly forgotten “first night” caused by too much alcohol.
Set across two arcs (a spa resort wedding trip and domestic life), this GL sequel mixes humor, sweetness, and romantic confusion in all the best ways.
