Synopsis

Oyama Tomoko (Yamaguchi Momoe), daughter of the wealthy businessman Oyama Gosuke (Chujo Shizuo) who built his fortune from nothing, is a promising high school senior sprint runner dreaming of Olympic participation. While training intensively for her goals, she falls in love with Nitta Hideo (Miura Tomokazu), a young detective from the Metropolitan Police who was formerly a track and field athlete. This beautiful beginning of their love story simultaneously marks the tragic first step toward a cruel and sorrowful destiny.

Gosuke faces threats from yakuza member Yano Jiro (Tani Hayato), prompting the Metropolitan Police to assign veteran detective Nitta Yusaku (Tamura Takahiro) and his son Hideo to provide protection. On the fateful day, Tomoko wins the 100-meter race at a track and field competition, celebrating with her family at a victory party. Yano appears at the venue and aims his rifle at Gosuke from the shadows. When Yusaku and Hideo notice the threat, they draw their guns and fire. However, Hideo’s bullet accidentally strikes Tomoko’s body. While Tomoko survives the shooting, she becomes paralyzed from the waist down. Learning she can never run again, Tomoko’s athletic dreams are shattered, and she begins to harbor hatred toward Hideo.
