Synopsis

M&Oplays’ stage production “Watashi o Sagasanaide” (Don’t Look for Me) – performed in October and November – will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW next February.

The play, written and directed by Iwamatsu Ryō, is inspired by Steven Millhauser’s short story “The Disappearance of Elaine Coleman,” which Iwamatsu reimagines in modern-day Japan.

Years earlier, a young girl named Misawa (Kawai) suddenly vanished without a trace. When Akio (Katsuji Ryo) returns to his hometown, he unexpectedly encounters a girl who looks just like her. But is she truly the same girl from the past – or is she merely a vision born from the guilt he’s carried for so long? The more he digs into the mystery, the deeper his unease grows. Where will his search ultimately lead him…?
