Synopsis

In this work, the time has come for Asagao and her father Taira to part ways, as Asagao has been earnestly living while searching for proof her mother, who went missing in the Great East Japan Earthquake, is still alive. In the previous work, ‘Katsatsui Asagao 2022 Special,’ Asagao’s emotional changes were depicted as she struggled with Taira’s childcare and progressing dementia. However, Taira has now moved to an elderly care home in Iwate Prefecture as he wished, and Asagao, Shinya, and the children have started living as a family of four.

During this time, a body believed to be a drowning victim is discovered. Although a suicide note was found, the autopsy reveals the possibility of homicide. Subsequently, another body believed to be an electrocution death is found, and the autopsy results reveal a connection between the two incidents. Shinya, who is diligently investigating the case, is closing in on a major incident together with the members of the serious crimes squad.

Meanwhile, Tsugumi begins to speak of a strange occurrence, saying that she feels like she has ‘seen Grandpa (Taira),’ even though he is supposed to be nowhere nearby.
