Synopsis

Asagao and Taira, who have been searching for Satoko’s body and “proof of life” since the Great East Japan Earthquake, come face to face with part of her corpse. As they heal each other’s never-ending grief, the Kuwahara/Maki family’s daily life becomes even more lively with the birth of their second daughter, Satomi. However, Asagaos’s heart is unsettled by child-rearing and Taira’s progressive dementia.

Meanwhile, Shinya returns to his former police station with a promotion, and Asagao and her team receive a request for an autopsy on two bodies, a man and a woman killed in a hit-and-run. 

In the last part of the story, the Kuwahara/Maki family goes on a family trip, and Asago makes a decision.
