Synopsis

As urban legend tells it, Saitama once faced severe discrimination from its metropolis neighbors living in Tokyo. To level the hierarchy, Asami Rei (Gackt) poses as a U.S. transfer student entering an elite Tokyo private school, but when his cover is blown, Tokyoite Momomo Dannoura (Nikaido Fumi) follows suit.

A live-action based on Maya Mineo’s manga, Tonde Saitama released to critical acclaim in 2019, going on to receive multiple nominations and awards that include Director of the Year, Screenplay of the Year, Best Film, and Best Film Editing. After returning from a hiatus due to health concerns, it was announced that Gackt will reprise his role–as will Nikaido Fumi–in a sequel expected to release in 2023.
