PICU: Shoni Shuchu Chiryo Shitsu

Shikota Takeshiro is a 27 year old pediatrician based in Hokkaido, Japan. He is one day transferred to the newly established PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) which is aimed towards caring for children under the age of fifteen who need specialist treatment and advanced care. There, Shikota Takeshiro meets Dr. Ueno Hajime, a pioneer within this medical field. He came all the way from Tokyo with the intention of building one of the best PICU units in Japan; with the end-goal being to bring sick children to PICU via medical jet in order to help them get the fastest treatment available. Upon meeting Dr. Ueno Hajime, Shikota Takeshiro’s life as a pediatrician changes.

A spin-off that focuses on the character Kawamoto Mai (Kanno Rio), fellow colleague and childhood friend of Shikota Takeshiro (Yoshizawa Ryo). It will depict the friendship between the two while introducing the gourmet food of Hokkaido.

A sequel to the drama series that aired in 2022.
 
Set at Okadama Hospital one year after Takeshiro is assigned to the PICU. He is gradually growing up, having overcome the loss of his mother and various setbacks at work. A newborn baby is transported to the unit where he is working. Found abandoned in a park, she had developed cellulitis as a result of her umbilical cord being cut off crudely, causing injury to her skin. Due to the persistent high fever, they decided to proceed with the operation immediately. Just as Takeshiro and his team were assigned to manage the post-operative care, a severely injured pair of siblings were brought in for treatment. An emergency operation is needed but there is only one operating room available. In the PICU, where life and death decisions for children are made, Takeshiro and his team confront reality head-on.
