That day, everything was taken away from him. In Miura City, located at the southern tip of the Miura Peninsula, Mamiya Hibiki works as an automotive mechanic and is respected by everyone as a reliable, straightforward man with strong moral character. On the very day he planned to propose to his live-in girlfriend Kurumi, a medical resident, Hibiki headed to work as usual, completely unaware that his world was about to change forever.

During his commute, Hibiki becomes trapped in a mysterious tunnel collapse accident. After several days, he finally manages to escape the tunnel, only to find himself facing a horrifying new reality. The world that greets him is an eerily deserted, post-apocalyptic wasteland. When he finally encounters another person and they turn around, Hibiki discovers to his terror that it’s a bloodthirsty monster that devours human flesh. These zombie-like creatures have overrun the city, and Hibiki finds himself desperately fleeing while paralyzed with fear.

Racing back to his apartment in hopes of finding safety, Hibiki discovers that his home has been ransacked and Kurumi has vanished without a trace. This survival horror story follows Hibiki’s struggle to navigate a world overrun by monsters while searching for his missing girlfriend and trying to understand what catastrophic event transformed his peaceful life into a nightmare.

In a world overrun by Golems, people struggle to stay alive. In the midst of despair, who will they love, and what will they believe in? A new community emerges in this post-apocalyptic world – Shelter ‘House of Hope.’ This settlement boasts abundant food supplies, prepared self-generating power systems, and residents living completely self-sufficiently. But what is the true identity of these people who have maintained such an advanced civilization, and what is their real purpose in searching for survivors?

Will this new community become an enemy or an ally? The mystery deepens around the Golems marked with mysterious “X” symbols – these artificial wounds suggest a deliberate brutality and hint at an even greater threat approaching. The “ultimate human drama” advances to its next stage as humanity prepares to reclaim what was stolen from them – their normal daily lives and the promises made on that fateful day.

The time for humanity’s counterattack has finally begun.

Mamiya Hibiki, along with Mihara Yuzuki, set out on a journey to find Kurumi, who despite being pregnant with his child, as well as infected with the Golem virus, disappeared from the shelter with mysterious group “X”. The world now occupied by golems creates a three-way battle among the mysterious group “X”, a religious group “Hikaru no Monsho” that wants to create a new world, and Hibiki who just wants to save his loved ones.

Hibiki has lost his beloved friends, lover, and now even his daughter Mirai has been taken from him. A man changed by the world around him, he continues his journey in his search for Mirai. He reunites with his former companion Hiiragi Kanae, but he is not the Hibiki she once knew.

He is supported by a community located within a certain prison. Known as “Niiyama Foundation Group” it is led by the foundation’s daughter Asuha. While there, Hibiki becomes aware of the existence of a place called “Utopia,” and hears that it’s likely that is where Mirai will be. It is rumored to be a place of sanctuary and humankind’s last hope, with the guarantee of food, water, and shelter. However, he learns that there is a limit to the number of people who can enter “Utopia”, and it is at that time that the prisoners who had been restrained up to that point manage to escape, and thus begins a fierce battle for survival over the “right” to “Utopia.”

Can Hibiki reach Utopia and reunite with Mirai? Does a future for humankind truly exist?

The fifth and final season will be distributed exclusively on Hulu JP from February 9th 2024.

After the death of many of their friends, as well as their separation from Hibiki, Asuha, Kanae, Kashuu, Kaito and Yura enter Utopia, the city of humanity’s last hope. They reach one of the two towers, where politicians gather, striving to restore the former civilization by establishing law and order. There, what the survivors witness is an absolute upper and lower world divided by the value of human life. In a world far removed from the utopia, Asuha, Kanae, and the others, torn apart between the “Tower” and the “Under,” find themselves entangled in the final battle over Utopia. Eventually, they reunite, but this time as adverseries.
