Gezan Meshi

This work is a situational gourmet drama featuring Mineko Itadaki, a shy illustrator who has a deep love for both mountains and food. After descending from her mountain hikes, she enjoys meals like deep fried horse mackerel set meals at diners and fried rice with dumplings at local Chinese restaurants. It is based on a book by Nishino Toshiko, a mountain guide and freelance writer.

The gourmet drama Gezan Meshi starring Shida Mirai will return for a one-night-only special titled Gezan Meshi Takasaki-hen airing late night on June 26 on TV Tokyo. This special episode is a collaboration between the city of Takasaki in Gunma Prefecture and TV Tokyo.

The story is based on a book by Nishino Yoshiko, an essay that introduces gourmet food near the foot of mountains that can be enjoyed without walking or waiting after a hike. Just like the original series, the special episode will once again follow Itadaki Mineko as she finds healing through low-altitude mountain hikes and savors the comforting taste of “Gezan Meshi” — meals that deeply nourish the body after a climb.
