DMM TV Adapts Watanabe Daisuke’s “The Scum of Good and Evil” and “Song of Outlaws” into a Riveting Crime Drama

DMM TV brings Watanabe Daisuke’s gripping manga series The Scum of Good and Evil and its sequel Song of Outlaws to life in an original live-action adaptation. This intense crime suspense drama follows the exploits of Kamo and Tora, a “revenge duo” who deliver justice to criminals who evade the law. The series stars Kubozuka Yosuke as Kamo and Kamenashi Kazuya as Tora, creating a dynamic and unforgettable pairing.

At first glance, Kamo and Tora’s Kamome Bookstore appears to be a quiet, unassuming secondhand shop in a small town. But behind the scenes, the two operate as vigilantes, taking on requests from victims and their families to punish perpetrators who escaped legal accountability. As they fulfill each request, the duo’s dark past and the motivations that led them to become “avengers” gradually come to light.

The series delves into the emotional scars carried by Kamo and Tora, weaving a hard-hitting narrative about justice, morality, and revenge. Joining the leads is Minami Sara as Kaisei Nanako, a girl who survived a brutal family murder and seeks vengeance with the duo’s help. The cast also includes Sugimoto Tetta, Shukugawa Atom, Sakai Miki, Kikuchi Hina, Akama Mariko, Maehara Mizuki, and Horai Mai. Directed by Shiraishi Kōji (Sadako vs. Kayako, Impossibility Defense), this gritty adaptation promises a thought-provoking and action-packed exploration of crime and retribution.

The first season was released in 2024. Based on the manga, it follows the exploits of Kamo and Tora, a revenge duo who bring justice on behalf of victims to criminals who have evaded the law.
In this sequel, the story unfolds when Kamo’s former best friend appears before him – a complete psychopath who continues committing murders under the guise of “journalistic research.”
