In the winter of 1996, 19-year-old Kudo Junichi was found dead in front of his home, clutching a note reading, “Father, I am free. Goodbye.” The case was quietly shelved as “unsent” evidence in the Kanagawa Prefectural Police archives.
Fast forward to the spring of 2015, when a tragic mother-and-child murder case in Yokohama reopens the past. Detective Ishikawa Yuri of the Kanagawa Police’s First Investigation Division is notified of an unexpected visitor. At the station, a foreign woman claims, “I witnessed a murder in January 1996.” Convinced of the need for a reinvestigation, Ishikawa, under the directive of Deputy Section Chief Motoki Hidetoshi, teams up with seasoned detectives Tachikawa Daisuke and Kaneko Toru, along with newcomer Takagi Shinjiro, to uncover the truth.
With unparalleled teamwork, the First Investigation Division embarks on a mission to unravel hidden truths behind multiple cold cases. What secrets will emerge as they revisit the past?

Uncovering the Truth: A University Discovery Leads to a 50-Year-Old Mystery
A skeletal body has been unearthed on the grounds of a university, sparking a decades-old mystery. Detectives Yuri Ishikawa (Yoh Yoshida) and Shinjiro Takagi (Kento Nagayama) from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s First Investigation Division join their colleagues Toru Kaneko (Ken Mitsuishi) and Daisuke Tachikawa (Kenichi Takito) at the scene.
A student ID found buried with the remains identifies the victim as Seiji Hashimoto (Kaito Yoshimura), who had disappeared in 1971 after participating in the violent Yokosuka Riots—a clash between students and riot police.
Later, a woman named Emi (Kaoru Okunuki) visits the investigation team, claiming to be Hashimoto’s daughter. Emi reveals that both her father and mother were radical activists during their university days. For years, she and her mother received money they believed to be from Hashimoto, suggesting he might still be alive and in hiding.
Focusing on foreign postmarks found on the envelopes used for the remittances, Deputy Section Chief Hidetoshi Motoki (Tomokazu Miura) and the team discover that Hashimoto might have been abroad for over 30 years. This revelation raises the possibility that the statute of limitations on his disappearance may not apply, prompting the detectives to launch a new investigation.
This gripping drama dives into hidden truths, long-lost connections, and the relentless pursuit of justice. Stay tuned as the Kanagawa Police unravel a case that transcends time and borders.
