About Nemoto Soichiro
Born in 1990 in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Tohoku University (Department of Japanese Intellectual History). He spent his childhood and teenage years-from kindergarten through high school-in Iwaki City, and moved to Sendai upon entering university.
At the end of his second year of university, he experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake while living in Sendai. This event made him reconsider his initial path toward becoming a teacher. He became involved in support activities both in the inland and coastal areas of Sendai.
During his third and fourth years, he participated in founding several volunteer and recovery organizations, including the ReRoots Disaster Recovery and Community Support Circle (now General Incorporated Association ReRoots), the Smile 311 Project (now NPO Mediage), and the Tohoku Division of Teach For Japan. His work focused on clearing debris, providing educational support in temporary housing areas, and helping spread information from Tohoku to the rest of Japan.
After graduating, driven by his desire to “create new stories from Tohoku,” he began writing novels and developing games.
He utilized Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)-a service that allows independent authors to distribute e-books globally through Amazon-to release several works: Hallucination Girl (2013), Dehydration Girl (2014), Girl Syndrome (2015), and Propaganda Game (2016). Propaganda Game reached #2 on the overall Kindle Store ranking, leading to its publication in print by Futabasha.
On October 11, 2017, he released a fully revised edition of Propaganda Game, based on the original KDP version. The novel went through multiple reprints, and in 2022, its stage adaptation was announced.
In 2015, he founded and became the representative of Nazomori Project, a mystery-game production group. The team has developed puzzle-based interactive games set in the Tohoku region, including WE QUEST (sponsored by the City of Sendai), which utilized the Sendai Subway Tozai Line.
His other works include Wizard Glass (Futabasha), The Town Where the Spaceship Fell (Kadokawa Haruki Office), Talent Island (KADOKAWA), and Swindler House (Shodensha).
