Synopsis

Actress Ishida Eri takes on her first feature-length film as director, screenwriter, editor, and lead actress in this adaptation of “Valley of Tears” – the memoir written by Fukuda Kazuko while in detention. Fukuda, known for perpetrating the infamous Matsuyama Hostess Murder Case that remains one of Japan’s most notorious crimes, chronicles her own turbulent life story in this dramatic film adaptation.

At 36 years old, she was an ordinary mother loved by her four children. However, emotional wounds from her childhood unconsciously influenced her. After committing murder, she resolved to evade capture until the 15-year statute of limitations expired. She continued her life on the run while repeatedly undergoing facial reconstruction surgeries, but as wanted posters were distributed nationwide, the net cast by police and society tightened around her with each escape attempt…
