Synopsis

Anna, an illustrator who dreams of country living moves to a rural village with her husband Terumichi, who has left his corporate job. The residents of the village are dedicated to Takubo, the village head. While the couple enjoys their new slow-paced country life, they become exasperated by the villagers’ excessive meddling. Through this experience, Anna begins to feel uneasy about the villagers’ reverence for Takubo, suspecting that some fear him. Meanwhile, Terumichi ends up helping Takubo with his work and learns about the village’s hidden “rules.” In order to avoid being ostracized by the village, Terumichi decides to dedicate himself to these “rules” for the sake of his family.
