Synopsis

The year is 1965–a period of high economic growth in Japan–and to prepare for his high school entrance exam, Tokyo local Norio moves out to the countryside where his grandmother lives. It is there he encounters a family of three Sanka–nomadic outcasts wandering from mountain to mountain, no family register or assets to their name. As they take Norio under their wing, he finds himself mesmerized by their way of coexisting alongside nature without the shackles of societal values.
