Synopsis

Based on a true story, this film is set against the backdrop of the famous Katakai Festival fireworks in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture. After being hospitalized for six months with acute leukemia, Hana returns home to find her older brother Taro has withdrawn from the world. Determined and optimistic, Hana encourages Taro to step outside and even tries to get him to join her at the Katakai Festival. Slowly opening up thanks to Hana’s support, Taro begins to change – but just as things start to improve, Hana’s leukemia returns.
