Synopsis
This marks the debut leading role for Hayama Shono, who gained recognition playing the heroine’s younger brother in the NHK morning drama series “Mare.” The story follows Tetsuo, who ends up hospitalized after getting into a fight, where he meets Maiko, a young woman born with a rare disease that has left her deaf and unable to speak.
Despite their communication barriers, Tetsuo and Maiko gradually connect through voice assistance devices and handwritten notes, slowly opening their hearts to each other and developing tender romantic feelings. When Maiko receives permission to leave the hospital on her birthday and tells Tetsuo about a special place she wants to visit, he eagerly anticipates making her happy on that day. However, Maiko’s illness begins to cast an increasingly dark shadow over her health.
The heroine Maiko, is portrayed by Arakawa Chika, who won the Best Leading Actress Award at the Comedy Cluj International Film Festival in Romania for her performance in the Russian film “Yakuza Girl: The 10-Year-Old Second Generation.”
