Synopsis

Nanjo Hiroshi is a 70-year-old movie star with a smooth-sailing actor career. Having swept prestigious awards across the art house circuit, he nevertheless harbors a deep, unfulfilled desire: to make an action film. Yet even as he rides high on critical success, he finds himself the target of pointed remarks from fellow actors – dismissed as someone “desperately trying to keep up with the times by doing art films,” a jab that leaves him quietly nursing a growing sense of frustration.
Just as those frustrations are simmering, a fellow actor is involved in a motorcycle accident before a film shoot. As a close peer and contemporary, Nanjo steps forward to offer a public comment, only to find himself unexpectedly showered with praise by the general public. But what begins as goodwill quickly takes on a life of its own, with opinion spiraling into something far beyond his intentions. Before long, voices start asking: “So, Mr. Nanjo — when are you going to surrender your license?”
