Synopsis

The Korean webtoon “True Beauty” by Yaongyi will be remade into a series of two Japanese movies, with the first set to release in March 2025 and the conclusion releasing in May 2025.

High school student Tanikawa Rena is bullied at school because of her plain and unattractive appearance, eventually leading her to stop attending altogether. However, her encounter with makeup brings about a major transformation in her life. After starting from scratch and honing her skills through hard work, she undergoes a dramatic transformation into a goddess who turns heads wherever she goes. Determined to leave her past behind and start a perfect new life at her new school, Rena was full of confidence. However, due to an unexpected accident, her classmate Shun discovers her secret: what she looks like without makeup.

The movie is based on all 223 chapters of the original work, with additional elements unique to Japan. It tells Reina’s story over two parts, following her journey from high school to adulthood as she transforms her life through makeup over the course of nine years.
