Synopsis

Filmed entirely on location in Toyama Prefecture, this drama unfolds in a quiet rural town and follows caregiver Asaoka Shinji as he spirals into grief and doubt after losing his wife, Aki, shortly after her vaccination. Consumed by sorrow, Shinji blames the doctor and continues to protest publicly while holding up his wife’s portrait. Though the media hails him as a “symbol of marital devotion,” his image is soon co-opted by the anti-vaccine movement, driving him further into isolation and madness. Is his anguish an expression of love, or a descent into insanity? The film poses this haunting question to its audience.
