Synopsis

The work, set in the Edo period, portrays the romantic love between married couples and family bonds within the feudal system. In 1829, Yoshino was living with their son Komanosuke and her husband Furuta Kyuzo Masanari, a shogunate guard who was placed under house arrest for dereliction of duty during his service at Edo Castle. Although Yoshino maintained a brave facade for her husband and family, Kyuzo’s fate was finally decided.
