A Heartfelt Road Movie: Knocking on Heaven’s Door

In this poignant coming-of-age road movie inspired by the 1997 German film “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, 28-year-old Katsuto, who has been told he has only a short time to live, meets 14-year-old Harumi, a girl who has spent her life in and out of the hospital. Harumi dreams of seeing the ocean before she dies, and Katsuto decides to help her fulfill that wish. Together, they escape the hospital and set off for the sea.

However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover a mysterious stash of money in the car they stole, putting them on the run from both a shady organization and the police. Directed by Michael Arias (Tekkonkinkreet), making his live-action debut, this thrilling yet tender story explores themes of life, death, and the pursuit of freedom. Starring Nagase Tomoya and Fukuda Mayuko, “Heaven’s Door” delivers a heartfelt adventure filled with suspense, emotion, and hope.
