Synopsis

Inspired by a true story, this film is set in Japan in 1989 at the height of the country’s economic bubble. Asahi Michiko, a kind-hearted lawyer known for rushing into court with unkempt hair and taking on cases that bring little financial reward, is approached by a woman named Uehara Megumi.

Megumi explains that she has been subjected to unfair harassment in the workplace and was ultimately forced to give up a job she loved. She hopes to sue both her company and her supervisor, but the case centers on an unprecedented form of workplace harassment – something no one has ever challenged in court before.

Fujino Shiori, a rookie attorney, argues that the lawsuit has no chance of success. However, Asahi is convinced that the case will help shape the future and decides to take a stand.
