Synopsis

Kichijoji Baus Theater, beloved as a cultural landmark in Kichijoji, closed its doors in 2014. This work traces back to the history of the first movie theater in Kichijoji established in 1925, depicting the long journey of people who continued to protect the theater and deliver entertainment, even while being swept along by the changing times.

Sometani plays the lead role of Saneo, who comes from Aomori Prefecture to Tokyo and ends up working at the Inokashira Kaikan by happenstance. Mineta portrays Hajime, Saneo’s brother who is a benshi (silent film narrator), while Kaho portrays Naruhama who becomes Saneo’s wife. Saneo consistently provides steady support to Hajime, who always brings in wild and unexpected ideas. One day, he is suddenly appointed as the theater’s president and begins working towards further development.
