Synopsis

Go Katsuhiro’s mystery novel “Bakudan” (The Bomb) is being adapted into a film by Nagai Akira, known for the movies “Teiichi no Kuni” and “Character.” Starring Yamada Yuki, the movie will be released sometime in 2025.

The opening of “Bakudan” begins when a mysterious middle-aged man calling himself “Suzuki Tagosaku” assaults a vending machine and store clerk in a drunken state and is taken into police custody. Claiming to have spiritual sensitivity, he warns of bombs planted throughout Tokyo. Starting with a predicted explosion in Akihabara, he forecasts three more explosions to occur at one-hour intervals. While evading the detectives’ questioning, he gradually begins presenting mysterious “quizzes” about the bombs. The drama, which unfolds in real-time, follows an unpredictable puzzle-solving game between the police searching for the bombs and the perpetrator in the interrogation room, alongside a citywide bomb hunt throughout Tokyo.
