About the Group

Kis-My-Ft2 were formed in 2005 from the combination of two Johnny’s Jr. groups, Kis-My-Ft and A.B.C Jr. The group was initially composed of eight members; Kitayama Hiromitsu, Iida Kyohei, Senga Kento, Miyata Toshiya, Yokoo Wataru, Fujigaya Taisuke, Tamamori Yuta and Nikaido Takashi. The group’s name was formed from the first letter of each of the member’s names, but around the end of March 2006 member Iida Kyohei left Johnny’s and respectively, the group, to focus on his studies. From this point on, leader Kitayama Hiromitsu laid claim to both the K and I of the name, fulfilling the role of the “Ki” segment of the name.

Though they originally were scheduled to have their debut with Avex in May of 2011, their debut got pushed back to August of the same year due to the earthquake and tsunami that hit Touhoku in Northeastern Japan. Their first single “Everybody Go” was released in August of 2011, after which they embarked on a nationwide promotional tour which started at the Tokyo Dome.

Kis-My-Ft2’s unique trademark is that all of the members of the groups perform tricks and acrobatic moves with rollerblades. Their group is actually modelled after older Johnny’s group Hikaru GENJI and have been known to perform their songs in concert.

On the 17th August 2022, Kis-My-Ft2 release their 29th Single, “Two As One”, which is tied to the summer drama “NICE FLIGHT!” of which Tamamori Yuta has a leading role.
