About the Group

The group was first announced in 2007 under the name Gekidan EXILES, with the initial unit comprised of Makidai, Matsu, Usa, and Akira, with Hiro as the general producer. In 2008, the group was renamed Gekidan EXILE.

In 2008, Ozawa Yuta and Isomura Yosuke passed the Gekidan audition and joined Aoyagi Sho, Akiyama Shintaro, Shin Jonte, and Harukawa Kyosuke in the unit Hanagumi.

A second audition was held in 2010 for the unit Kazegumi. Elly, Shirahama Alan, Yamashita Kenjiro, Fujima Sho and Fujima Tsukasa formed this unit. Sho and Tsukasa would leave the group toward the end of 2010.

In 2011, Suzuki Nobuyuki and Machida Keita joined the Kazegumi unit after passing the third audition. Shin Jonte, Elly, Shirahama Alan, Yamashita Kenjiro, and Machida Keita left the team in July. Shin would devote his activities to being a singer, Elly and Kenjiro joined JSB3, and Keita and Alan were selected as candidates for Generations. After the exodus, the units were dissolved.

Kieta rejoined Gekidan after withdrawing from Generations because of an injury in February 2012. In September, Onozuka Hayato, Nogae Shuhei and Yagi Masayasu joined the group.

In May 2013, Isomura Yosuke left the group and LDH.

Sato Kanta was selected as a potential group member in 2014, officially joining the group in 2015. Harukawa Kyosuke left the group in 2015 as well, to focus on overseas activities.

In 2022, Shiono Akihisa, Maeda Kentaro and Sakurai Yuki were added to the group.
