Synopsis

This drama is a live-action vertical drama adaptation of the novel of the same name, which depicts the life of Tomiyasu Norihisa, the CEO of funeral services company Tear, who entered the industry at just 18 years old. The production received expert guidance from Tear staff as well as supervision from a professional nōkanshi (traditional Japanese mortician), who also coached the actors in the Academy Award-winning film Departures.

Nagata Takato plays the lead role of Tomiyasu Norihisa, a man who continues to offer heartfelt support to both the deceased and their families while battling the public’s prejudice against the funeral industry. Ichihara Hayato appears as senior mentor Fujita, who teaches Tomiyasu the true essence of the profession with the powerful line: “Treat the deceased as if they were your most beloved.”

The 50-episode series will be distributed on TikTok and YouTube. First, one episode will be released daily for 10 consecutive days, after which new episodes will be added every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It will also be streamed globally (outside of Japan) on DramaBox.
