Synopsis

Nine-year-old Akira loses both parents and is taken in by his aunt and uncle living in Oregon. He is separated from his older sister, who remains at a Japanese middle school to continue swimming, with a promise to reunite after one year. While experiencing Oregon’s magnificent nature and people, Akira grows as a human being. Though unable to forget Japan, Akira eventually decides to live in Oregon with his aunt and uncle, who have raised him as surrogate parents.
