Synopsis

Ooka Echizen commands respect through his sharp observational skills, is feared by criminals, and is beloved by townspeople as a compassionate magistrate with a deep understanding of humanity. The medical clinic where Iori has returned now welcomes apprentice physician Kikue, who studies medicine while aspiring to become a female Dutch medical practitioner, replacing Shiho, who previously served as the female doctor. Kikue maintains a romantic relationship with Katase Kentaro, a patrol officer from the South Magistrate’s Office who serves as her senior in medical studies and teaches her discipline.

Among the South Magistrate’s Office patrol officers, alongside Katase, the hot-blooded Natsume Jinpachi and the cool-headed Kitajima Shunsuke work as friendly rivals, cooperating effectively in solving criminal cases. These young officers receive warm guidance from Akagaki Denbei, who has earned Tadasuke’s trust as the organizational backbone of the South Magistrate’s Office. After years of being a widower following his first wife’s death, Akagaki prepares to welcome a new bride – the generous and beautiful Shoko, introduced by Shizuka, Yukie’s mother.

At the small restaurant “Tanuki,” Rokusuke, a former thief and old subordinate of Hanji, has joined as the new cook while also working as a secret informant, adding another layer of intrigue to the establishment’s operations.
