Synopsis

Tokyo in 1985. An arson murder occurs in an apartment. The arrested Ikematsu Ritsuko (Matsumoto Marika) and the deceased novelist Kimizuka Kohei (Matsushita Kouhei) were childhood friends. Ritsuko evades the interrogation by prosecutor Tsudaguchi (Kakizawa Yuto), who is handling the case, with a strangely detached and elusive attitude. Tsudaguchi begins contacting people who have been involved with Ritsuko throughout her life as he pursues the truth behind the incident. Ritsuko’s extraordinary life story and the men surrounding her gradually come to light. However, the impressions of Ritsuko that each person testifies about are completely contradictory. The deeper Tsudaguchi investigates the case, the more he becomes fascinated by Ritsuko as a person. Eventually, Tsudaguchi begins to suspect that the key to solving this murder case lies in the Tsugaru region of Aomori during the 1930s Showa era, where Ritsuko and Kohei spent their childhood together.
