Synopsis

Based on the video game series created by RGG Studio.

“Like a Dragon: Beyond the Game” is a crime action drama set in Kamurocho, a fictional city modeled after the real Kabukicho in Shinjuku.
It emotionally portrays the lives of three orphans who grew up like brothers, shifting between two time periods: 1995 and 2005.

In 1995, orphans Kiryu, Nishiki, Yumi, and Miho lived in a child welfare facility. Seeking freedom, they planned a game center raid that drew the Dojima yakuza’s attention. To settle the incident, Kiryu entered underground fighting, Yumi and Miho became hostesses, and both Kiryu and Nishiki were accepted into the Dojima group, despite their guardian Kazama’s hopes for their honest future.
By 2005, Nishiki led the Dojima group, and Yumi controlled New Serena. When Yumi’s sister Aiko steals 10 billion yen from the Omi United Alliance, tensions escalate between the two major yakuza organizations. To prevent a full-scale conflict, police release Kiryu on a special pardon.

Hearing his friends are in danger, Kiryu returns to Kamurocho. Despite their fractured relationships, he prepares to fight to protect what remains of his “family,” setting the stage for a violent confrontation.
