Synopsis

“Please sentence me to death.” In 2016, twenty-year-old Hashizume Hokuto, detained for committing murder, makes this shocking declaration to his court-appointed defense attorney Takai.

Young Hokuto grew up without ever experiencing a loving embrace, enduring severe abuse from his biological parents and living through lonely, isolated days. One fateful day, after being cruelly called “a devil’s child” by his mother, Hokuto leaves behind a heartbreaking note saying “I’m sorry for being born” and flees into the freezing winter night.

This powerful drama explores the devastating cycle of child abuse and its long-term psychological consequences, examining how childhood trauma can shape a person’s entire life trajectory. The story delves into themes of parental responsibility, societal failure to protect vulnerable children, and the complex relationship between victimization and criminal behavior.

Through Hokuto’s tragic journey, the series confronts difficult questions about justice, redemption, and whether society bears responsibility for the monsters it creates through neglect and abuse.
