Synopsis

The protagonist, Tsuboi Ryota, is a salaryman who feels caught in the middle both at home and at work, without a true place to belong. However, one day his father, with whom he had become distant, collapses, and this triggers changes in his “reasonably happy” life. This is a supreme home drama from director Koreeda Hirokazu, who has depicted the humor, warmth, and emotional pain of ordinary people with both refreshing and profound depth. A heartwarming, amusing, and slightly mysterious good story that will make you chuckle.
