Synopsis

Ginga no Ippyo is an electoral entertainment drama following the daughter of a ruling party secretary-general ousted from politics and an amateur snack bar owner who join forces to run in the Tokyo gubernatorial election. When Hoshino Matsuri, who works as her father’s secretary, receives an anonymous tip-off letter, she launches a secret investigation into her father’s past and uncovers a shocking truth.
However, when her father discovers what she has been doing, Matsuri is immediately dismissed as his secretary, losing everything overnight. It is then that she crosses paths with Tsukioka Akari, a woman single-handedly running a small snack bar. Around the same time, the incumbent Tokyo Governor is forced to resign amid scandal. Determined to change the system from within, Matsuri throws herself into the role of campaign strategist — with one bold goal: getting Akari elected as the next Governor of Tokyo.
