Synopsis

At Fukuya Douhonpo, a 450-year-old traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto, Hayami Arare (played by Hayami Akari) is the free-spirited second daughter. One day, her mother Komako (played by Asano Yuko) instructs her to marry Kenji (played by Ichihara Hayato), a wagashi artisan who was originally engaged to her sister, and become the 18th generation head of the family business. This shocking development occurs because the eldest daughter Hina (played by Sasaki Nozomi), who was supposed to be the heir, decides to marry the handsome heir Hiyama (played by Yamashita Kenjiro).

Arare rebels against this arrangement, refusing to accept it. This precious love story follows three sisters living in Kyoto’s world of “history and tradition” as they navigate and grow through conflicts involving romance, family, career, and dreams.
