Synopsis

The newly established “Consultation Office” at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Suginami Central Station’s Community Safety Division was created under the banner of “a new initiative to respond swiftly to citizens’ voices,” but in reality, it was a dumping ground for problematic personnel and those who had been cast aside. “Zero multiplied by anything equals zero” – meaning that no matter how many useless people you gather, they remain useless. This earned the department the mocking nickname “Zero Section” among station officers.

Into this Zero Section transfers the mysterious career police inspector Kobayakawa Fuyuhiko (Koizumi Kotaro) from the National Police Agency’s National Research Institute of Police Science. Despite being part of the elite career track, Fuyuhiko is naive and socially clueless – “the ultimate KY (can’t read the atmosphere) detective.” Paired with him is veteran female detective Terada Torazo (Matsushita Yuki), who is “mannish and foul-mouthed.” This “ultimate KY” detective inadvertently becomes a catalyst for the “problem children” gathered in Zero Section, triggering chemical reactions among them. The completely mismatched duo, along with their ultra-individualistic Zero Section colleagues, brilliantly and sometimes chaotically solve various difficult cases.
